The drive shaft support is a metal clamp rigidly connected to the chassis, with a bearing inside that is flexibly mounted via rubber. The drive shaft passes through the bearing, reducing vibrations in the drive system. Due to its length, the drive shaft may lack sufficient stiffness to operate without additional connections to the chassis. Replacement is necessary when excessive cracking is visible on the rubber surface connecting the bearing to the clamp, or if there is noise or excessive play from the support bearing. A worn support does not reduce vibrations, leading to accelerated wear of other drive shaft components. Driving with a worn drive shaft support can result in the drive shaft detaching from the chassis.
